Peter Holloran

Peter Holloran

Peter directs brand strategy development for the firm, and provides consultative services to the senior administration of our client institutions. He began his career in the Advertising & Sales Promotion Operation at General Electric Company (GE), first in Schenectady, and later in northern Virginia, where he served GE product departments throughout the southeast. Before returning to his native Rochester, NY in 1981, Peter also served as Marketing Manager at the Federal System Division of EDS Corporation, where he designed and recruited a full in-house marketing department to serve the needs of the National Flood Insurance Program. Peter held account planning and strategy development positions at Rochester?s most prominent advertising agencies including Blair/BBDO and Hutchins/Y&R before electing to start his own business with Josanne DeNatale in 1993. A graduate of The Harley School and the Eastman School of Music Preparatory Department, Peter earned his B.A. in English at Gettysburg College, and his M.S. from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. An active member of CASE, Peter has also served on the board of the Advertising Council of Rochester (past Chair), the Landmark Society of Western New York, the David Hochstein Memorial Music School (past Chair and current trustee), and as Chair of the Community Advisory Board of WXXI, the regional public broadcasting affiliate. 

Josanne DeNatale

Josanne DeNatale

Josanne co-founded the company in 1993, and directs the firm?s brand communications work, including the development of integrated marketing plans. She leads a team of writers, designers, media planners and Web development specialists in the design and production of specific creative projects. Josanne has extensive experience in traditional and Internet-based communication design which she applies to the marketing needs of institutional advancement and admissions initiatives. She previously served as senior art director at a marketing communications firm where her clients included the Rockefeller Foundation, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, Planned Parenthood of Rochester & the Syracuse Region, the American Automobile Association, and Xerox Corporation. Josanne is a community volunteer committed to supporting arts and cultural organizations. She has served on the Executive Board and the Cultural Diversity Committee of the Arts & Cultural Council of the Greater Rochester Region, and on the board of Writers & Books Literary Center. She has also been an adjunct faculty member at Rochester Institute of Technology. Josanne is a summa cum laude graduate of the State University College at Buffalo (B.S., Design). She is a lifelong devotee of the typographic arts and a long-standing member of the New York City-based international Type Directors Club. She is an active member of the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) and has presented at several district conferences and workshops.

Richard Sillick

Richard Sillick

Dick's personal passion for creativity that truly communicates has long made him an invaluable member of our team. After more than 20 years of experience working on the creative side of the advertising agency business, Dick joined Cognitive Marketing in 1999, and brought with him a wealth of experience developing strategically-sound and compelling advertising and promotional work for a wide variety of businesses and nonprofit organizations. He is an integral member of our Market Voicing team, lead designer on numerous institutional identity programs, and director of our creative team of writers, photographers, illustrators, and video producers to ensure that their work adheres to the requirements of each client?s brand. He also works with the communications staff of many of our client schools to integrate our work fully with theirs. Dick is a graduate from The Harley School in Rochester, NY, and holds a B.F.A. degree (with a concentration in Advertising Design) from the University of Denver.

LISA STRASENBURGH 
Senior Consultant

Lisa joined Cognitive Marketing in 2010 as a Senior Consultant. In this capacity, Lisa guides and manages the entirety of our firm's service to select full-service accounts, as well as provides creative writing and special event management expertise as needed for other clients. A 1982 graduate of St. Lawrence University with a double B.A. in English Writing and Sociology, Lisa's prior professional experience has included public relations and marketing in banking and finance, special event planning for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee and special event and development work for a number of business, cultural and civic organizations. Lisa currently serves on the Board of Directors of Pittsford Crew, is a member of Gallery Council of the Memorial Art Gallery of the University of Rochester, and provides marketing communications and special event planning to several additional community organizations.

MEGAN W. BARILLOphoto

Project Coordinator

Megan brings a wonderful blend of creativity and organizational skill to her work as Project Coordinator. She is responsible for managing the annual advertising programs for educational and business sector clients. In this role, Megan analyzes client advertising needs for both traditional and Internet media, and coordinates the work of our creative associates and our media planners and buyers. She also provides logistics and background research support to our brand development teams. Before returning to her native western New York State, Megan worked in Boston, MA in the independent film industry, and in San Francisco, CA where she was the communications coordinator for a non-profit environmental engineering organization. In that position she managed member services, served as editor of all communications, and coordinated conferences and special events. Megan earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Rochester Institute of Technology, where she studied script writing, film production, and acting.

Julie coordinates internal and external communications, logistics, and schedulingfor project teams. She also manages the work of Cognitive Education Research, a specific service focused on quantitative research studies. A graduate of Ithaca College with a Bachelor of Arts in English, Julie began her career in Washington, DC, providing proposal development, market research, and business development support within the government contracting market. Julie spent several years as Operations Manager forOCM, a direct mail marketing firm,whose clients included colleges and universities across the country.Upon returning toNew York,she joined Harris Interactive, where she provided full-cycle project supportincluding conversion of direct mail/telephonesurveys toInternet surveys.

Megan Wintermantel Barillo

Lisa is a veteran of the marketing communications business, and manages the Cognitive Marketing office. She oversees invoicing and project status reports, and is appreciated by our clients for ensuring that any service issue gets the immediate attention of the appropriate person. Lisa started her career at Hutchins/Y&R, one of Rochester?s premier advertising agencies, and spent almost 10 years at Buck & Pulleyn Advertising, before joining the Cognitive team in 2000.

Nicolette hawks

Digital Marketing Specialist

Nicolette brings knowledge of digital innovation and creativity to her work as Digital Media Specialist. She is responsible for developing the online and social networking components of the integrated marketing programs for our educational clients. Nicolette earned her B.S. in New Media Marketing from Rochester Institute of Technology. Before returning to Rochester, she worked for the internet and advertising industry in New York City. Nicolette has completed a certificate program in Digital Media Marketing from New York University.

Print Production Manager

Wendy coordinates all aspects of printing and direct mail management. She acts as a client advocate for quality and affordability in the complex arena of print production. Wendy began her career in production in the fast-paced world of direct marketing while at Catalyst Direct. Later, she broadened her experience and developed her eagle eyes for the intricacies of print and advertising production while in service to two of Rochester?s leading advertising agencies. Wendy is a graduate of the University of Buffalo with a bachelor?s degree in English.

MARGARET A. FUSCO, Ph.D

Senior Marketing Consultant and Writer

Maggie brings a rhetorician?s perspective to her love of writing and strategic analysis. She began her career at The University of Chicago, where she crafted campaign communications and coordinated NEH grants during a successful capital campaign. She taught languages, literature, and rhetoric for ten years, first at The University of Arizona and then at Vassar College, where she directed the faculty?s committee on admissions and was named to the president?s faculty cabinet. Maggie returned to her native New York City to direct alumni relations for the NYU Stern School of Business. She subsequently became senior manager for recruitment marketing at Booz Allen Hamilton, where she created communications materials and crafted recruitment marketing strategies. She served as director of strategic communications for Emma Willard School in Troy, NY. Maggie earned her B.A. at New York University and her M.A. and Ph.D. at The University of Chicago. She has both studied and taught under the auspices of the National Endowment for the Humanities and has continued her education at the Simmons School of Management's Strategic Leadership Institute for Women Educators.
